| Welcome to all returning & new players for the 2009 season.
We hope that you all had a safe & happy off-season. It’s been a very busy pre-season with the club preparing for the new season with registrations, grading, trial matches & all of the other myriad of things that need to be organised to get the season underway. This situation has not been helped by a large number of late registrations, but in the whole we have managed to get everyone in teams and on the field for round 1. I would personally like to thank the committee for all of the hard work & countless hours that they have put in over the last 3 months to help get players on the field. Special thanks must also go to all of the people who have volunteered their time to take up coaches & managers positions for the 2009 season. The committee, players & parents certainly appreciate your offer to help train & guide our young players. Here’s to an enjoyable & successful 2009 season Stephen Bradbury |

| What’s Happening in 2009? | |
| Registrations: We currently have 431 players registered and with a few more late registrations we look to be on track to have around 450 players registered for this season, which is slightly down on last season’s record number of 473 players, but well above the Blacktown Association average (some clubs are over 100 players down on last year’s figure). Our registration numbers make us about the 7th largest club in the association. We still have some positions available in Under 14’s, All Age Men, All Age Ladies & Over 35’s. All other age groups are now full. Please contact the Club Secretary, Stephen Bradbury on 0419 170 717 with any registration queries. |
|
| Our registration days will be held at Minchinbury
Shopping Centre, Minchin Drive, Minchinbury. Please note that the player will need to attend when registering, as we may need to update the player’s photograph when updating their registration details. All of this is done on computer at the time of registering |
|
| Outstanding Registration & Uniform Fees | |
| For those players who have submitted registration paperwork
& are still to finalise payment, please be aware that full payment of
registration fees is a condition of registration. We ask that anyone with any outstanding registration or uniform payments please settle this immediately. Payment can be made through the match payments window at our club canteen on Saturdays & Sundays. Please be aware that players who are not fully paid up may have their player ID card withheld by the club and as such will be unable to play. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the club president Glen Overton, or the club secretary, Stephen Bradbury, to arrange for deferred payment. |
|
| Playing Strip & Club Gear: | |
| Most players should now have received their uniform. Unfortunately
the large number of late registrations did create some delays in finalising
the uniforms & the numbering of shirts. If you have any concerns regarding uniforms, please come to the match payment window at the club canteen, where we will take down your details. We will then have our Gear Officer, Michelle Overton, contact you to help resolve any problems. The club also carries a range of club gear – every thing from sweatbands to gear bags, polo shirts to polar fleece jackets & spray. An order form for club gear will be shortly be available on our website & through the club canteen. |
|
| Grading of Players & Teams: | |
| As per the Blacktown Association and club requirements, all
competition players are subject to grading by a Grading Panel to ensure
that players are playing in a grade that matches their abilities. The main
age groups that the club focuses on are our Under 9, 10, 11, 12 & Under 13 teams, although some other ages may also require some regrading. The club strives to grade players in a fair & equitable manner and we believe that our overall grading system, which is similar to that being used by Blacktown Spartans, in the main will see players playing at an appropriate level. This was reflected by the fact that over 75% of our teams qualified for semi final soccer in season 2008. In regards to grading of teams, all clubs submit suggested grading of all teams to Blacktown Association. Blacktown then have the job of sorting teams into divisions based on the information supplied. In the main our club’s recommendations are applied but occasionally the Association regrades some teams. Unfortunately this is necessary, as sometimes the Association needs to even out numbers in the different divisions age groups (for example we can’t have 3 teams playing in division 1 & 13 playing in division 2 – so 2 divisions of 8 teams are created). There have been some comments received regarding concerns about some player & team grading. The committee are happy to discuss this the reasoning behind grading but generally will not regrade players once grading is completed. Blacktown Association will not regrade teams once they have graded teams. |

| Competition Dates - Competition Teams (Under 9 to Over 35): | |

|
| The Season Draw: | |
| The season draw is posted on the Blacktown Association web site & can be accessed through a link on the Minchinbury Jets Website (www.minchinburyjets.com). As the draw is subject to change it is strongly advised that you do not preprint the season draw but rather check it every week (probably Wednesday of Thursday) to ensure that you have the latest correct details. There have been occasions in previous years where matches have been rescheduled and players have missed matches because they have printed out copies of the draw that have been subsequently changed. | |
| Social Events & Fundraisers: | |
| Once again our club will be holding a number of social events (kids disco, golf day, shopping trip etc) and running fund raisers (chocolate drive, raffles, cake stalls etc) for the club. This year we have introduce an optional fund raising levy as part of our registration process. Those who have paid the fund raising levy will not be required to take part in the fundraisers. | |
| Club Website: | |
| For those of you with Internet access our club has our own
website. This can be accessed through www.minchinburyjets.com or through the Blacktown Association website – via links to the BDSFA website that on the Minchinbury Jets website or through www.bdsfa.com We will also be distributing weekly newsletters throughout the season to cover those without Internet access. |
|
| Wet Weather Arrangements: | |
| There are a couple of ways to find out if the ground is closed
due to wet wether. Blacktown Council have a wet weather line ph 9839 6575
where a recorded message is available. We also have ground updates on our
website (www.minchinburyjets.com) and on the Blacktown Association website
(www.bdsfa.com). That’s all for now. Please feel free to offer
any contributions to the next issue of our newsletter. |
